HeadLimes and the Environment

Made from food and dishwasher-safe material, HeadLimes are intended to be reused -- PLEASE DO NOT THROW THEM AWAY!  Rinse them, put them in the drawer and bring them out again when you serve your next round of drinks!  Whether it's your favorite Mexican beer (Corona, Modelo, Pacifico, Sol, Dos Equis, Tecate... you name it), or your favorite cocktail (rum, vodka, tequila, gin…), a HeadLime makes an ordinary drink pop.

HeadLimes and Recycling Mexican Beer Bottles

Most people don’t realize that when a lime goes into the bottom of a beer bottle, like a Corona, it is more difficult to recycle that bottle.  I’m not saying they cannot be recycled… I’m simply stating that limes can pose a problem, increase recycling costs and contaminate glass. Think about how the recycling plant is then required to manage literally thousands of lime wedges amidst the normal glass recycling process.  And, at times, limes that are ‘caught’ in the recycling process can discolor the recycled glass. It’s not the end of the world, but it’s nice to know that HeadLimes are assisting the recycling process – making it cheaper and easier, and more likely that your Mexican beer bottle will not end up in a landfill.
